Good Samaritans provide homeless with housing and life slills

The Samaritan Inn in New Jersey is a non-profit organisation that provides temporary housing and life skills to homeless people.

Founder Sister Thomasina Gebhard explained that providing a home for the homeless is a “priceless gift,” especially for the hundreds of children who are involved. The average age of a Samaritan Inn client is 7 years old.

Dawn Metzger, the Samaritan Inn’s executive director, said the temporary housing program has an 88 percent success rate in getting people into permanent housing with less than 2 percent returning to homelessness over two years.
